Big Sean – Control (ft. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica)

I was going to stop posting for a while because Feherty is on TV interviewing Larry David. Feherty is a personal hero of mine and has to be one of the best TV interviewers ever. If you don’t believe me, watch his show some time. Even if you don’t like golf, you’ll learn a lot, I promise.

Anyway, I saw this song and immediately started playing it. Big Big Sean fan. Huge Jay Elec fan. You don’t hear much from Jay Elec either, so I was excited to listen to this. Big Sean goes typical Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar goes seriously HAM on this shit. Jay Electronica kills it because he is Jay Electronica and that’s just what he does. I guess this won’t be on the album for some reason or another, I think copyright bullshit.

Eminem – Survival (feat. Liz Rodrigues)

Today I got a job that I really wanted. Not a real person job yet, but it’s going to be really fun. Also today, new Eminem song. In case you didn’t know, the name of my blog, Music Mitten, is about Michigan, more specifically Detroit, so I get pumped when some new Shady is out. This shit is dope too. Makes me want to go do hoodrat shit. Welcome back Em. I’m still waiting for the return of Slim Shady though, some real raw fucked up rap shit. But this’ll do, pig. This’ll do.

Hit the jump to hear some classic Shady raps. I’m gonna bump some right meow.  Continue reading

Big Sean – Fire

Love this song. Been a Big Sean forever. He’s come a long way from rapping on my friends kitchen table at a house party with Mike Posner back in high school, and this is a song about almost exactly that. Big ups to him. Here’s a link to download and the song from youtube. It’s the only way I could post it right now. Working on a new solution for these types of situations.

It’s up on Soundcloud now. Serious nostalgia thinking about those house parties too. In case you guys didn’t know, I’m from the Detroit area too. Hence, the beautiful Detroit skyline in the background of the page and the name of the blog, Music Mitten.

The Celestics – Charles Barkley

Half posted this because the song is cool. Half posted this because this picture of Charles Barkley driving the lane on Godzirra. Does anyone know what this picture is from?

This song is smoove like butter. Don’t know anything about Celestics though. Maybe I should. I do know they are from Canada, but how do they know so much about American sports, like Lebron’s hairline? Must be watching too much Sportscenter.

The more I listen to this, the better it gets.

Sean Dee – Bow and Arrows (ft. Anna Yvette)

This guy can spit, that’s for sure. Here’s one song from him.

Here’s a different one though that’s just “featuring” him. This song is so dirty. Dirty. That’s the only way I can describe it right now.

Hit continue to hear more. This guy is dope. Some real good stuff. Continue reading

R. Kelly – My Story (ft. 2 Chainz)

I haven’t posted anything lately because I’ve been real busy. By real busy, I mean that I watched the Harry Potter movies for the first time. People couldn’t believe I had never seen them. Pretty good actually.

R. Kelly is back with 2 Chainz though and that’s more important than anything else I could be doing. I’ve been a fan of R. Kelly for as long as I could remember. Almost went to Pitchfork just to see him this year. This track is fresh. Really looking forward to more from the man.

Childish Gambino – Centipede

I was never really a big fan on Childish Gambino as a rapper. I think he’s really good as an actor. I like this song though. It seems a little different from everything else I’ve heard from him. I skipped it the first ~10 times I saw it, but I’m glad I listened today. Anyway, it’s beautiful outside, so I’m going to go out and get some exercise. Come back later. I swear I’ll find some good stuff to post for you all.

Hit “Continue” to see a couple of my favorite Donald Glover YouTube videos from years ago. He was in a hilarious comedy group called Derrick Comedy. They’re good.

Rome Fortune – Grind [Video]

“Ain’t nothing cooler than waking up with your net worth bigger than the day before”

That’s how I felt this morning when my page views were almost as high as they’ve ever been for this blog. People are liking posts and stuff too. It’s cool. I like what’s happening.

WAIT, are Bapes still a things? I bought a Bathing Ape hoodie once, because, you know, I was the hoodest white suburban kid on the block. Click “Continue” to get turnt up with Soulja Boy like it’s 2006. Continue reading

Daktal – Booty Call

I’m actually getting pretty efficient making these posts now (as long as creating a .gif isn’t involved). That’s good. It give me more time to listen to shit instead of writing shit and messing around trying to embed pictures.

This song is from a group called Daktal. They’re fairly well-known for the hip-hop beats they make, but here they do the whole song themselves. The beat is just a bass line and an acapella chopped up. It’s smooth. Decided to hit you with a different one because I like it more. Hit the jump for four more they released at the same time. They’re good. I promise.
